Traditional Chinese Medicine

As we all generally know, Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is all about natural remedies, herbs and non-invasive treatments. People nowadays are keen to looking for Chinese therapists because they believe in natural healing from the inside rather than treatments or medicine that can only lessen the symptoms from the outside. Traditional Chinese medicine in SOL includes a broad range of services such as Acupuncture, Moxibustion, Scraping, Blood Letting, Cupping and Herbal Medicine.

Traditional Chinese medicine embraces the concept of “Qi” which is known as a vital energy that circulates in our body through channels called meridians or “Jin Luo” (an invisible network that connects all the body parts and organs). Imbalances in the flow of “Qi” in the meridian is the main factor for the development of diseases or conditions. To make sure the flow in the meridian is smooth, certain forms of Chinese medical therapies are performed such as:

Acupuncture (Zhen Jiu)

Acupuncture is one of the most significant components in Chinese medicine. It is to insert needles into the specific points along the meridian lines to restore balance in the flow of “Qi” to overcome certain body conditions. People always concern about the sensation of receiving acupuncture but no worries, the feeling is more like tingling and cannot be described as painful.

Cupping (Ba Guan)

Cupping is a form of Chinese alternative medicine which cups made of glass, bamboo and earthenware are placed on the skin to create suction. Cupping is performed to “smoothen” the meridians so that “Qi” can flow freely throughout the body, through all tissues and organs. Cupping is one of the best deep-tissue therapies available. Cupping helps in detoxing, clearing blockage and refreshing our veins and arteries. For those who are afraid of needles, cupping can be their second choice.

Scraping (Gua Sha)

Scraping is a form of ancient Chinese medicine whereby the skin is scraped using a blunt tool to produce light bruising to release unhealthy elements in the body, stimulate blood flow and natural healing. Through scraping the meridian points, good stimulation is created and the circulation of the part being scraped will be improved. And therefore, it is good for disease resistance and as well as enhancing our immune system. It is effective in reducing inflammation in our body and relieving the tension of our muscles.
